How Abidely handles your data

Abidely is a prayer, reflection, and prayer circle app. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Abidely is provided by the Abidely app team. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, contact us at support@abidely.app.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use Abidely, we may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: your user ID, email address, display name, sign-in provider, email verification status, and account settings.
  • Profile information: your display name, avatar, selected preferences, language, timezone, and notification settings.
  • Prayer and circle content: prayers, prayer details, prayer focus items, reflections, updates, archived prayer information, circle names, circle descriptions, posts, comments, join requests, reports, and moderation-related records.
  • Subscription information: Abidely Premium product identifiers, subscription status, entitlement status, App Store transaction identifiers, original transaction mappings, expiration or renewal status, and server notification processing records.
  • AI and moderation data: text and images you submit to Abidely AI features or safety checks, generated prayer suggestions, verse lookup requests, Text-to-Prayer inputs, moderation classifications, and content sent for safety moderation.
  • Images and uploads: avatar images, circle images, uploaded image metadata, and selected Unsplash image references.
  • Notifications and device signals: notification preferences, reminder times, push notification tokens, app integrity signals, App Check signals, device or installation identifiers used for abuse prevention, and limited diagnostics needed to operate the service.
  • Support communications: messages you send to us and information needed to respond.

How we use information

We use information to provide and improve Abidely, including to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Save and sync your prayers, reflections, circles, comments, reminders, and preferences.
  • Provide Abidely Premium, verify App Store purchases, restore subscriptions, and keep entitlements accurate.
  • Power AI features such as Prayer Focus, Find a Verse, and Text-to-Prayer.
  • Moderate public or shared content, review reports, reduce abuse, enforce usage limits, and protect the service.
  • Send requested notifications and app-related messages.
  • Respond to support requests, debug problems, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations.

Private prayers and shared content

Private prayers are designed so other Abidely users cannot see them by default. Shared circle content, comments, reports, and testimony-style posts may be visible to the people who have access to the relevant circle or review surface.

Private does not mean that Abidely, our infrastructure providers, or authorized service operators can never access the data. Access may occur when needed to operate, secure, support, moderate, debug, or comply with legal requirements. We aim to limit such access to what is necessary.

AI features and sensitive content

When you use Abidely AI features or upload content that requires safety review, some text or images you provide may be processed by third-party AI or moderation providers, including OpenAI, for content safety classification, feature responses, and abuse prevention. Do not submit information you do not want processed by these services.

AI responses are generated by software and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your situation. Abidely is not a substitute for professional, medical, legal, mental health, pastoral, emergency, or crisis support.

Third-party services

We use service providers to operate Abidely. These providers may process data for us according to their own terms and privacy practices. They include:

  • Firebase and Google Cloud services, including Firebase Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Storage, Messaging, and App Check.
  • Sign in with Apple and Apple App Store services, including StoreKit and App Store Server Notifications.
  • Google Sign-In.
  • Google Gemini for AI generation features.
  • OpenAI moderation services for content safety checks and classification of text and uploaded images.
  • Unsplash for image search and image selection.
  • Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications.

Subscriptions and payments

Abidely Premium subscriptions are purchased through Apple's App Store in-app purchase system. Apple handles payment information. We receive and store limited subscription and transaction status information needed to unlock Premium features, prevent duplicate account linking, restore purchases, process renewals or cancellations, and support account deletion.

Your privacy choices

  • You can update your profile information and notification preferences in the app.
  • You can delete prayers, comments, and other content where the app provides that control.
  • You can delete your account in the app. Account deletion removes or anonymizes account-related data according to the deletion flow. Some records may remain when needed for security, legal compliance, subscription integrity, moderation history, backups, or legitimate service operations.
  • You can manage Abidely Premium subscriptions through your Apple account subscription settings.
  • You can contact support@abidely.app to ask about access, correction, deletion, or privacy concerns.

Data retention

We keep data for as long as needed to provide Abidely, maintain subscriptions, support account and content features, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, prevent abuse, and maintain security. Deleted account data may take time to be removed from backups or logs.

Security

We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, including Firebase security rules, authenticated access controls, App Check, and server-side checks for sensitive operations. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children and minors

Abidely is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Abidely without appropriate consent, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.

International processing

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than where you live, including locations where our service providers operate. Data protection laws may differ from those in your region.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Abidely changes. When we do, we will update the date above. If changes are significant, we may provide additional notice in the app or through another appropriate channel.
